Jammu-Srinagar Highway closed for second day after massive landslide

Jammu, Apr 19 (HS): The strategic Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed for the second day today following a massive landslide triggered in Ramban district,
Efforts are on to restore the highway – the only all weather road linking Kashmir with rest of the country – which was blocked near Monkey Mode in Ramban area on Thursday morning, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded, “The highway remains closed as of now and we are making efforts to make it traffic worthy as soon as possible,” SSP, traffic (national highway) Jitandar Singh Johar said.
He said that continuous shooting of stones are hampering the clearance operation. Hundreds of Srinagar-bound vehicles were left stranded at various places on the highway after the closure of the road. He said if road is through for traffic stranded vehicles will be allowed towards Srinagar.
