The Supreme Court has ordered all the private hospitals operating on subsidized government lands in Delhi to provide free treatment to the poor patients who may not be able to afford the cost of their treatments.
Further, to make sure the poor patients are treated free of cost and properly, the Apex Court has asked the Delhi government to file periodical reports in relation to the order. In addition, it will also, monitor the functions of the private hospitals.
The Court further made it clear that any violation of the order by the private hospitals won’t be tolerated and will be treated as contempt of court- in the matter of how many beds have to be reserved for patients belonging to economically weaker sections of the society.
The order given by the apex court is to uplift the weaker sections of the society and to make the basic amenities available to them free of cost.
